Beachfront campground near Salou
One of the major attractions of our campground near Salou is undoubtedly its proximity to the sea. Salou has eight beaches and several coves that are major natural treasures. Although they don’t have direct access, they are nevertheless quieter. Many of them are coves surrounded by nature, which makes them particularly attractive destinations.
A campground located 600 m from La Pineda de Salou Beach and its 3.5 km of fine sand (as the crow flies—just a 7-minute walk!), our seaside campground near Tarragona offers ideal swimming conditions for the whole family, from spring through the end of September. La Pineda Platja, with its refreshing sea breeze every evening, is sheltered from the north winds and enjoys a unique microclimate.

The most beautiful beaches near the campground
Salou and the surrounding area are home to eight main beaches and coves, each with its own unique character. These beaches are easily accessible by bike from the campground via the coastal bike path. Here is a selection of them:
- Playa de Levante: It is characterized by its length of approximately 1,200 meters. You can walk along the beach by following the Jaume I seaside promenade, which runs parallel to it, and there you’ll find a wide variety of services and recreational facilities for both young people and adults.
- Playa de Ponent: Known as one of the longest beaches in Salou, at about 1,100 meters long, it is bordered by the Miramar boardwalk. It features a gentle slope leading into the sea, and with its shallow waters, it is ideal for children.
- Playa Capellans: It is lined with a beautiful boardwalk and bordered by natural cliffs. Its shallow waters and gentle slope make it ideal for swimming with the whole family.
- Playa Llarga: Because it’s far from the nearby tourist spots and surrounded by pine forests, it has a peaceful charm. It can be reached via Replanells Street, not far from the road between Salou and Tarragona, and it also features a pedestrian-only boardwalk.

- Cala Llenguadets : This is a small cove surrounded by nature, with clear, shallow waters. It can only be reached on foot, either via the Camino de Ronda, which leads to the Salou Lighthouse, or via Torrassa Street.
- Cala Penya Tallada : A stunningly beautiful little cove located between Punta Roja and Penya Tallada, with a rocky cliff face that juts out further into the sea. It can be reached via Penya Tallada Street.
- Cala Font : With its fine sand and rocky shores, this cove is naturally enclosed and offers easy, safe access. It’s an ideal spot for snorkeling, and its calm waters allow you to enjoy the seabed, home to many species of marine life.
- CalaCrancs : Located on the other side of town, this is one of the most attractive coves. Flanked by rocky outcrops covered in vegetation and fine sand, it slopes gently into the sea, making its waters ideal for swimming.
The Beaches of La Pineda and the Coves of Cap Salou
The beaches of La Pineda and the coves of Cap Salou, sheltered from the north winds, feature fine sand and clear, shallowwaters. In July and August, average temperatures range from a low of 21 °C to a high of 30 °C, with a pleasant, gentle breeze that keeps the air cool. One of the main features of La Pineda Platja is its exceptional microclimate.
We recommend a visit to Punta del Cavall in the Cap Salou area to enjoy a magnificent view of the coast and, above all, the beauty of the sunset.
La Pineda Beach is the closest to the campground. It is divided into three sections from north to south: Playa dels Prats, Playa de la Pineda, and Playa del Racó. Up to 40 meters wide and bordered by the Pau Casals seaside promenade, it’s perfect for family walks, building sandcastles, and swimming. Its gentle slope and shallow waters make it a paradise for children.

At Cap Salou, about 3 km from the campground, four coves and a beach offer a wilder, unspoiled natural setting:
- Playa Llarga: surrounded by pine forests, quiet, and off the beaten path of mass tourism. Access via Replanells Street.
- Cala Llenguadets: crystal-clear, shallow waters. Accessible only on foot via the Camino de Ronda leading to the Salou lighthouse.
- Cala Penya Tallada: a place of great natural beauty, located between Punta Roja and the rocky cliff. Access via Penya Tallada Street.
We highly recommend the walk to the Salou Lighthouse lookout point along the Cap Salou coastal trail: a 300-meter path along the water’s edge, offering breathtaking views of the gulf and remarkable native vegetation (aspic, white pine, sea lily, agave). A walk you won’t want to miss!
