“Releasing emotions… that’s what happens when you open a bottle of wine from the six D.O.’s of Tarragona province, a heritage left by the Romans of ancient Tarraco and perfected by the monks of the Middle Ages”, CondéNastTraveller.
Wine tourism is an activity which, as its name suggests, consists in discovering a place, a city, a region, a country through wine regions and the productions that can be found there. This is a type of tourism that can be classified as qualify as rural and which includes several activities, particularly depending on where it is practiced.
Of course, you can also practice wine tourism in Spain near campsite La Pineda. The province of Tarragona is full of vineyards and therefore of wines with a designation of origin (D.O. in Spanish).
In total, there are 6 D.O. belonging to the province of Tarragona. This heritage is originally due to the Romans and has not ceased to be perfected since the Middle Ages.
Tarragona is, like the vine, one of the symbols of the Mediterranean culture and it is this same vine that is one of the values of the Costa Dorada. The landscape resulting from these vines, the large cultivated areas and the harvested products simply make up the personality and history of the region.
With the Denomination of Origin Priorat it is one of the most famous agricultural areas that we are dealing with when it comes to high-end wines in Spain.
However, it is in Tarragona that 5 other names for wines of excellence can be found. These are Conca de Barbera, Penedés, Montsant, Terra Alta and Tarragone.
In order to find your way around during your wine tourism adventure we would advise you too much to establish a circuit beforehand in order to successfully follow all the existing Denominations of Origin. As for the proximity to Campsite La Pineda, it is better to focus on the Denomination of Origin Tarragona, Denomination of Origin Priorat and the Denomination of Origin Monstant. They are indeed the closest geographically.
These cellars offer a wide range of visiting times for the public and it is also possible to make an appointment in advance.
